The Laminated Cotton Shop wasn't born from a business plan, but rather, from a mother's ingenuity and desire for a more sustainable life. As a trained CPA, Jacinta found herself seeking fulfilling part-time work after her sons were born. However, the lack of flexibility and cost of childcare often outweighed the benefits.

In 2012, a trip to the USA sparked a new path. Jacinta stumbled upon a waterproof, washable highchair mat, a concept unheard of back home in Australia. This sparked a passion for learning about laminated cotton, its sourcing, and sewing techniques. Before long, her own kitchen was transformed, with hand-crafted laminated cotton mats replacing those ubiquitous plastic drop cloths.

What began as a small passion project quickly resonated with others. The desire for stylish, eco-friendly alternatives to disposable plastics was clearly shared. Fast forward to today, and The Laminated Cotton Shop has blossomed into a thriving workshop, equipped with industrial sewing machines and a team of talented women.

The Laminated Cotton Shop remains dedicated to its core values: creating high-quality, reusable products that are both practical and beautiful, while reducing our reliance on disposable plastics.

These gorgeous shower caps have been designed to be reused over and over again! If you can no longer reuse, regift or repurpose your shower cap (great for art and craft!) they can be sent back to us to be recycled correctly with Terracycle.
