Love this dye best I’ve found
Great, thank you Ellie
I used Chestnut Shadow, followed by Chocolate Shadow. The coverage was pretty good. Definitely covered all the white/grey (and I am all white now even though I’m only 40.) my only gripe is the result is a bit more red than I wanted. I have heard you can use the indigo toner to fix that though, so I will try that next time. The smell didn’t bother me at all. In my opinion it smells like tea leaves. And yes, I did it twice, with two different sets of dye. The developing does take a long time. I left my dye in for 5 hours with each colour. But I simply covered my hair with gladwrap and then put a beanie over the top and went about my day. No one could tell under the beanie was hair dye and glad wrap lol
I love this, i've used it before and would recommend to anybody. Love the earthy natural smell and my hair always feels so soft and healthy after using it.
This was definitely an experience. Read the directions on the desert shadow website beforehand and be prepared to start this early in the day or leave Step 1 overnight as it has to activate from 4 - 10 hours depending on the room temperature. Then once you mix it with step 2 it has to stay on your hair for 2-4 hours. The benefits are fantastic though, my colour turned out great! It's completely plant based so no chemical smells but be prepared for a very earthy smell for the next week or so as it is all natural it definitely smells that way as well! I have long hair (past my shoulders) and I almost used all of the mixture but if you have shorter hair you could definitely get away with using half the mixture and saving the other half for another use. Step 1 can be mixed ahead of time and saved but make sure you measure and weight it out as the ratio needs to be maintained for the colour to work. Another tip was I used a shower cap to keep it warm and moist and it made rinsing it out a lot easier. My hair has held up great to washing and styling and I am really loving it! Will probably try the Walnut shade next time for a little less warmth.
