Aussie Family behind the brand

"Protecting people and oceans" is the mantra Sunbutter’s founders live by.

Tom and Sacha, two marine biologists, set out to make a highly nourishing, reef-safe and plastic-free sunscreen that not compromises anyone on our planet. Working daily on and under the ocean, they refined and tested this high quality sunscreen endlessly before bringing it to market. And gosh, we love it!

But wait… Sunbutter donates tins where ever possible to assist with environmental and conservation causes. For example, they sent the sunscreen to the volunteers cleaning up Aldabra Atoll and to field staff for Island Conservation projects. What is not to love?

How to use

Massage directly onto skin 20 minutes pre-sun exposure. For best result reapply every 2 hours or after swimming, surfing, dancing and sweating.

End of life

Once you have finished your favourite tinted sunscreen, repurpose the tin around the house or pop the empty tin in your home recycling bin!

      No white cast!

"Just tested this and it does NOT leave a whiteish cast on my light-medium brown skin. Feels good so far! Make sure you rub it in well."

      Jess (5/5)

      Will purchase again

"Love the sunbutter sunscreen. Effective, easy to apply, doesn't leave you feeling greasy and no horrible smell. Will purchase again."

      Anita (5/5)

      Sunscreen

"Bought this as a more eco friendly nontoxic alternative to the standard sunscreen that I use. Not that you can even trust standard sunscreen s anymore. Big supporter of Greenpeace and Sea Shepherd so it was any easy purchase decision. I’ve only used it a couple of times. Seems to rub in well enough, has minimal scent. A bit expensive but worth it for the benefits it provides to health & environment."

      Torsten T. (5/5)

      Best sunscreen!

"The best sunscreen I’ve ever purchased. Super smooth and the best part is that it’s reef safe."

      Alexis D. (5/5)

"Great product, have used this before, used to use UV Natural sunscreen until they went out of business. This is just as good, and the plus size is it come in a metal tin not a plastic tube. If you want a natural sunscreen without all the man made carcinogenic chemicals in it then use this."

      Dean (5/5)

Best sun screen for sensitive skin

"I've tried many sunscreens over the years but none was as good as this, I am sensitive to all the store bought brands including the ones for babies or sensitive skins. But this one is the answer, I am able to use it on my face as well as all over my body without causing any issues. I've been to Ecuador where the UV was really strong but this sunscreen kept me safe, will definitely be keep using this."

      Cathy J. (5/5)

      Great cause, good product

"Love that it is reef safe, supports sea shepard, is toxin free and plastic free! Thick consistency is OK but takes time to rub in. White cast is minimal. Don't love the tin as it feels slightly less sanitary than a tube (but that may just be me!) Still a fantastic option and great to support the cause and planet"

      Chelsea (5/5)
