Made from unbleached, unseeded (greige) cotton.

Aussie Family behind the brand

The Swags founder, Peita, grew up on a farm amongst nature, animals and the only mode of transport being horseback. The farm represented a conscious and circular environment when it came to waste. For example, animal manure fertilised their huge veggie patch, and the veggie patch offcuts and food scraps fed the animals.

There was no garbage collection truck so they were responsible for all of their own waste. They had a compost heap, a worm farm and an incinerator, from a young age Peita practiced sustainability and was conscious of her food and plastic waste.

After moving to the city and becoming a mother, food waste started to creep into her life. Overwhelmed with the guilt of throwing away fruit and veg she decided to focus on why her fruit and veg wasn’t lasting long enough. She realised that all the fruit and veg that was packaged in plastic was suffocating, sweating and living a very short life.

This is where The Swag and Veggie Saver were born. A reusable and compostable food storage option that extends freshness for 2 weeks or more (on average), whilst also helping to reduce toxins and waste from the tea we drink with the Tea Swag.

Doing good for both us and our beautiful planet!

How to use

Machine wash before use. Dampen the bag under the tap and wring out excess water. Pack produce into your damp Veggie Saver and place it in the crisper or fridge. Spray with water every couple of days if the bag dries out to enhance freshness (refer to instruction manual for individual fruit and veg requirements)

When it’s due for a clean, turn inside out, empty remains into the garden and cold machine wash with your toxin-free washing powder. Dry in the sun. Repeat.

* Scientifically tested by Australia's Applied Horticulture Research facility in Sydney

End of life

Once you can no longer reuse your veggie saver, pop it in your home compost or bury it in your garden and watch it disappear!
