Welcome back GFZ's!

Today we're highlighting an exciting win from our very own Sunshine Coast neighbours (and a brand we stock and ADORE), Pleasant State!

These eco-conscious legends not too long ago bagged the prestigious Marie Claire x Volvo Sustainability Award 2024! 🎉 (Yes, that’s right—Australia’s first!). Ami and Sian, the dynamic duo behind Pleasant State, have been busy revolutionising home cleaning.

From Crowdfunding to Cleaning Up… Literally!

Picture this: it’s 2020, the world’s turned upside down, and while most of us were perfecting sourdough, Ami and Sian were hard at work creating safe, planet-friendly, ridiculously good-looking cleaning products. What started as a crowdfunding campaign has now turned into a movement sweeping through 20,000+ Australian homes (and counting!).

Their 2024 goal? Stopping 450,000 single-use plastic bottles from hitting landfills. They’ve already halted 254,000 in their tracks! Not only that, but Pleasant State aims to generate 225,000 litres of toxin-free cleaning solutions and raise $80,000 for charity partners like Take 3 for the Sea. Talk about squeaky-clean goals!

Why We Love Them (Spoiler: They’re Just Like Us!)

Much like us here at Go For Zero, Pleasant State was born out of a deep love for the planet and a desire to keep things simple, sustainable, and safe. Ami’s journey started with something so relatable—chronic headaches from exposure to nasty cleaning chemicals. Realising that traditional cleaning products were doing more harm than good (both to her health and the planet), she teamed up with Sian to tackle the toxic problem head-on. Their solution? Cleaning bars that dissolve in tap water to create effective, zero-waste solutions that even your houseplants would approve of.

The Zero-Waste Revolution

Say goodbye to ugly plastic bottles hiding under the sink. Pleasant State’s cleaning bars are designed to look good and do good, all while making cleaning feel more like self-care (minus the bubble bath). From compostable packaging to reusable glass bottles, every detail has been carefully considered to cut out the environmental B.S.

And if you’re wondering why this award means so much, it’s because it’s a testament to their unwavering commitment to sustainability. Pleasant State doesn’t just clean houses—they clean up their supply chain, their packaging, and even their business model. Australia’s first B Corp-certified cleaning brand? You bet.

What’s Next for Pleasant State?

With their eyes on the horizon (and maybe a few surfboards, too), Pleasant State isn’t slowing down anytime soon. This award is just the beginning. They’re determined to lead the way in sustainable home cleaning, all while protecting our oceans, reducing waste, and keeping your homes sparkling—inside and out.

So, if you haven’t jumped on the Pleasant State train yet and you're feeling ready to overhaul your cleaning products, their super popular full house kit is the one for your. If you are keen to test the waters, have a look at their multi-purpose cleaning spray, foaming handwash, bathroom spray or their new fruit and veggie wash! Trust us, your house, your health, and the planet will thank you. And hey, you’ll be supporting a local, female-founded Sunshine Coast business—just like us at Go For Zero.

If you enjoyed this weeks happy Earth news we know you'll just love our full library of stories waiting to warm your eco heart, you can find them here!

Until next week, much love!
