To all our amazing followers, this week is a little different to our usual uplifting Friday news stories. Whilst we normally share positive sustainability stories to motivate and build hope amongst the community.
Today is different.
The fire in our bellies has taken over and we need your help.

Let's spread the word!
Did you spot the change to Manhattan's famous clock?! It's been reprogrammed to display the time left to act before the climate emergency becomes irreversible. Whilst I think this is an awesome idea to spread awareness and spark immediate action, I'd be lying if I said I didn't tear up instantly as I played out the timeline in my head...7 years?
Fridays For Future, the climate movement inspired by Greta Thunberg, has called for a global day of climate action TODAY.
What you need to know:
The Australian Federal Government has announced plans to support the gas industry with millions of dollars in Covid-19 'recovery' funding, annnnd we're not here for it! Gas is a harmful fossil fuel that will turbocharge the climate crisis. We stand for no public funding for gas and other damaging fossil fuel projects!
Where we need recovery funding to go:
- Resourcing Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander-led solutions that guarantee land rights & care for country
- The creation of jobs that fast-track solutions to the climate crisis & help communities recover
- Projects that transition our economy & communities to 100% renewable energy by 2030.
What you can do:
*During this pandemic we strongly advise striking responsibly, in small COVID safe groups, or preferably online.*
We know these events can be overwhelming, so we've shared some of School Strike 4 Climate ways to take action below.
1. USE YOUR VOICE
Take a selfie or recruit a small group of mates (abiding by COVID safe rules) & take a photo holding a sign with this message:
'FUND OUR FUTURE NOT GAS'
Post on all your social channels & create a ripple effect. Let those creative juices flow!
2. SIGN A PETITION
Support the strike without leaving your seat by signing this petition.
