Welcome back to another Happy earth news Blog GFZ’s!
In celebration of International Youth Week, we want to talk about our little legends making a huge impact!
I once read an article that described the youth as “agents for change”. I loved it because it is SO true! They are our undercover activists, change makers, entrepreneurs and go-getters of the future.
This week we want to talk about local Aussie youth groups driving anxiety into change, and how we can support them and get involved!
Sunshine Coast founded Shine From Within Academy, is an online group helping the youth from around the globe navigate their purpose and start the climate conversation.
The Online Academy is a youth-led, nurturing virtual space for teens (ages 12-19) to broaden their interests, expand their community, develop life and self-leadership skills and grow into who they want to be.
The group holds online coaching groups that cover topics like:
And the list goes on!
Seed Mob is Australia’s first Indigenous youth climate network!
They are building a movement of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people for climate justice with the Australian Youth Climate Coalition. (More on these guys below!)
Seed Mob envision a sustainable future with strong cultures and communities powered by renewable energy.
Their movement with passionate and committed young people is growing all across the country. Seed volunteers are doing incredible work leading the movement for climate justice and building their skills in creating social change. Sign up to volunteer today!
If you are a non-Indigenous young person who would also like to be a part of building a generation-wide movement to solve the climate crisis, see the AYCC below!
The Australian Youth Climate Coalition is Australia’s largest youth-run organisation; its mission is to build a movement of young people leading solutions to the climate crisis.
“Young people have the most to lose from global warming, but we also have a lot to gain. Climate change is our best opportunity to create a world that works for everyone, not just a few. We can power our lives with the wind and sun and ensure access to clean energy and job opportunities for all.”
Know of any other fantastic youth groups or ways for our kids to be involved in environmental activities in your community? Perhaps just a group of legends creating remarkable change or starting the conversation? We’d love to hear from you!
If you loved this story, we think you’ll love our blog on 9 zero waste activities for kids & the whole family this school holidays. Such a good one if we do say so ourselves…
