But those doubts are about to change.! We've found the most incredible on-the-go recycling app that shares the yes or no answers and the best recycling destinations with you too that you can take it to!  

It's called Recycle Mate (more like recycle bestie).

What is Recycle Mate?

Recycle Mate is Australia's first FREE community-driven recycling app!

It uses photo recognition technology which allows you to photograph or search for a specific item and immediately find out where it can be recycled, repurposed or disposed of, based on your location and available bins near you.

How Does it Work? Sign me up! 

Head to your app store & grab the app and follow these simple steps… 

Step 1: Choose your location (the app will also choose your local council)

Step 2: Select the curbside bins available to you. 

Step 3: Scan or search for your item

Step 4: Receive recycling information and instructions relevant to specific items and your local area, which bin to use at home and learn if there is a better recycling option near you.

How cool, right?!

With our current recycling system there are too many decisions to make (cap needs to go here, a bottle there, is label even recyclable). but with Recycle Mate, you can search for over 4,000 items in their library which are continuously growing every day with your help and feedback!  

Let's give an example…

So let's say I wanted to know how to recycle an old charger. I simply typed it in and the app directs me to not place this in any of my local council bins. Not general waste either. Instead it shows me facilities close to me that can dispose of them properly. Plus, if I know of another option I can also contribute that to the directory!
