GF & DF Flax Seed Crackers

(Say goodbye to packaged crackers)!

Snacks are one of the hardest things in our home to find plastic free. Most of them are packaged in plastic trays and soft plastic wrapping, which can be difficult to recycle (downcycle).

If you're like me and find it hard to search for crackers without layers of plastic packaging, especially gluten and dairy-free options, then you’ll love this delicious flax seed crackers recipe that is not only easy to make but also plastic-free and next-level delish. You'll be snacking happily in no time!

These super easy flax seed crackers are a twist on the amazing@vegandiaries___ recipe. We added a few goodies and you can too! We like to pair these crispy crackers with homemade hummus.

Time to say goodbye to plastic-packaged crackers!

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • - 1 cup ground flax seeds
  • - 1 cup water
  • 1/4 cup seeds of choice optional e.g. sesame, pumpkin, sunflower (I added dried figs, chia and flax seeds)
  • - 1 tsp salt
  • - 1 tsp garlic powder
  • - 1 tsp dried rosemary optional

Method:

  1. Preheat your oven to 180°C.
  2. Combine all of your dry ingredients into your bowl and give it a quick stir.
  3. Add the water, stir to combine and then let the mixture sit for around 10 minutes, this is where the flax will absorb the water.
  4. Shape your mixture into a ball and using your reusable baking mat roll out your mixture to be flat. You can also use another mat on top to help here too!  (Pssst… during my first attempt I could have made mine way thinner - I suggest around 3mm.
  5. Then prick the surface layer all over with a fork.
  6. Bake for 20 minutes until hard, I kind of like to over-crisp them! then
  7. Remove from your oven and allow to cook, then get snapping!!
  8. Enjoyyyyy!

Don’t forget to save this recipe for later, and if you do make it, don’t forget to tag us in any videos and photos you take. Plus if you loved this recipe we think you’ll love this one here for Homemade Cashew Milk!

Until next time,

Much love!
