Easy Homemade Ketchup...

Not only is this recipe super easy & allows you to know exactly what is going into your household's favourite sauce, but it is also a great way to use up old tomatoes, as well as take home any sad-looking tomatoes from your supermarket that may otherwise be thrown away!

I love this recipe from my head-to-ma-toes… (okay I'll stop).

Here's what you'll need:

  • 1kg of extra loved tomatoes
  • 130 grams Red onion
  • 2 Cloves Garlic
  • 100mls White Wine Vinegar
  • ( normally you add 180 grams of capsicum but we’ve made it without and it's still good! )
  • 100grams brown / dark sugar

Spices:

  • Pinch of nutmeg
  • ½ Teaspoon Mustard Seeds
  • Pinch of pepper
  • A bay leaf
  • 1 teaspoon Paprika
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Method:
1. Blend all the goodies together (minus the spices & brown sugar )
2. Simmer on low heat for 40 mins
3. Add in the spices & sugar
4. Simmer for a further 15 mins
5. You can take to it again here with a blender if you want it smoother!
6. Grab your jar collection & allow it to cool in them before applying the lids or use it straight away!
7. Enjoy!

Don't forget to take a picture and tag us if you make this delicious homemade ketchup, pssst it goes super nicely with our homemade meat-free sausage rolls!
